At the tender age of just 16, I hand-coded my very first (ugly) web site using notepad and a tutorial from htmlgoodies.com. For years after, I spent time making pages, for myself, friends, school projects, and just for fun. More of a hobby then anything, I enjoyed learning the ins and outs of simple web design. Slowly I started learning ways to augment the basic html pages I was creating, adding javascripts, using .css, and even getting into some deeper coding in PHP. Then I grew up and became a French chef. 50-80 hour work-weeks have a funny way of destroying any hobbies you might have.
So, years later, after deciding restaurants were not my future, I found myself looking for something to do with myself. While I have worked in a variety of jobs since, I also returned to my teenage hobby, and found that there was a job to be had. Focusing on learning open-sourced software that would allow me to simply and inexpensively create highly effective pages for a variety of clients, I have honed my skills.
